Following the successful ‘Include Autism‘ toolkit, Ambitious about Autism, as a charity have identified early years (children 0-5 years old) as a new strategic priority for 2018-20. They have developed a resource that would avoid generic information about autism. The resource will instead focus on a process of ‘guided discovery’ offering practical advice and tools.
The objective is to provide factual and practical support to families of children aged 0-5 to get the ‘right start’ on their journey into autism as well as to assist professionals and practitioners to sign-post parents to support.
The ‘Right from the Start‘ toolkit is available online and downloadable for families to fill-out as well as printed copies distributed to NHS GPs.
My idea was to use watercolour paintings – these are very unique and elevate the toolkit from a ‘corporate’ guide, giving it the appearance of a friendlier look like a children’s book. Thinking about neurodiversity, I have developed the idea that each one of us are like plant/flower pots, all different but we’re all beautiful and blossoming on our own unique way.
