Barkston Rooms is a hostel which is located in west London, Earls Court. They wanted to refresh rather backdated no consistent branding.
Their existing logo was too corporate and didn’t reflect their clients – target group, young, students. Their suggestion was to use the initials BR instead of the crown by keeping the same colour scheme.
Idea: My idea was to create a modern logo that would appeal to young-students. This age group is all about the social media and wanted to incorporate this into the logo.
Execution: Firstly I created an abstract “techno” BR. With the use of a square I wanted to make the logo like a live platform like Instagram where visitors can see their images. This logo can be used either on its own or inside a box depending of the application.
Typography: Typography used is simple to make the icon stand out and something that will not age easily and last.
I have also redesigned their website in order to improve the navigation, increase bookings directly from them and provide an optimal viewing and ability to navigate with minimum resizing across a wide range of devices (from desktop computer monitors to mobile phones).
